Description:

The Happy Valley Family Health Team offers short-term, confidential, professional counselling services (6-8 sessions) to its rostered patients through Registered Social Workers and Master’s level counselling interns. These services are provided at no cost to the patient.

Social work focuses on strengths, supports, and resources as it helps individuals of all ages and backgrounds to find solutions to life’s day-to-day issues including:

  • Stress, Worry, Anxiety, and Phobias
  • Sadness, Depression, Grief, and Loss
  • Sleep/ Insomnia
  • Disordered Eating
  • Problems in Relationships (home, work, school, etc.)
  • Trauma, Violence, Abuse, Sexual Assault
  • Anger and Emotion Regulation
  • Parenting, Separation, and Divorce
  • Spirituality and Personal Identity
  • Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning + (2SLGBTQ+) Issues
  • Perinatal Mental Health
  • Adjusting to Life in Canada

We do not offer couples counselling at this time. If you are seeking couples counselling, we recommend you reach out to Family Services Perth-Huron.

Referral Process

Your healthcare provider can send a referral on your behalf or you can phone our clinic directly (519-284-3450 ext 3100) and ask to book an intake appointment. After the intake you will be placed on our waitlist. You will be phoned to book an appointment when there is availability.

Intake Appointment

Telephone intake appointments are the first step in our counselling process. During the appointment one of our social workers will assess your needs and deem if it is appropriate for you to engage in an episode of care or if another resource would be better suited.
